Conservation status

These sharks are listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Redlist of Threatened Species. Many populations are seriously depleted, but in South Africa there is a bit of a success story and we seem to have a relatively healthy population. Current threats in South Africa are mainly the KwaZulu Natal shark nets.
